Electrochemical Engineering: Fundamentals and Applications is a comprehensive MOOC designed to provide learners with a strong foundation in the principles and practices of electrochemical engineering. The course covers core topics including electrochemical thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, transport phenomena, electrode polarization, and the design of electrochemical reactors. By combining theory with practical case studies, it equips students and professionals with the ability to analyze, design, and evaluate electrochemical systems used in modern industries.
Throughout the course, learners will explore how electrochemical technologies enable innovations in energy transition, green hydrogen production, battery and fuel cell development, and environmental remediation. Each module features engaging video lectures, guided readings, quizzes, and problem-based assignments to strengthen conceptual understanding. The course concludes with a capstone project, where participants apply their knowledge to design or assess a real-world electrochemical system.
This MOOC is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or related STEM fields, as well as industry professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in sustainable and low-carbon technologies. A prior understanding of mathematics, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, and transport phenomena is recommended to maximize learning outcomes.
By the end of this course, participants will not only understand the fundamentals of electrochemical engineering but also develop the analytical and design skills needed to address global challenges such as climate change and the energy transition. With its flexible, self-paced structure and globally relevant content, the course offers a unique opportunity to gain in-demand knowledge and contribute to innovation in energy and industrial sectors.
This course is open to undergraduate and graduate students in engineering or science fields, as well as professionals working in engineering and scientific industries.
