About This Course
This course will study various issues related to Political Parties, Elections and Women. As and engage scholars (academics and activist) since mid 1980s and especially after 1998, the changing of authoritarian regime to the democratic regime, the development of political parties and elections become routine agendas. However, the development of democracy internal party are far from the high ideal from the theoretical perspectives. Elections are called as the liberal machiavelian, fabricated and an electoral coup D’etat. At the same time there are so many ignorance among the activist or to large extent the citizen how the politics works. A candidate's party affiliation is probably the most important thing that citizens can know for certain in their voting choices.
How do Political Parties developed? What elections system is more friendly for women candidates. Therefore, this course will also enrich the study on women in politics parties and election and elections.
Politics, and political science, have been developed in a malestream way that women do not considered as politically relevant to all of its studies and analysis. In the on going social and political transformation in Indonesia, women are often marginalized in many discourses and policy making.
Eventhough this course is targeted to publics audience, it is still important to explore theoretical perspective on political parties; on election and on women, state and politics. The topics will discussed in this course such as basic knowledge on political parties, elections, state and feminism, democratisation, representation, justice, globalization.
This course will include: lecturing, discussions, and making a projects such as elections polling, campaign model and management; making a video campaign, or debate also writing in public media.
Requirements
Target audience Internal: Students of my classes such as Women and Political Class; Political Party and Elections class; Comparative Politics.
Including the networks of CEPP around 43 campuses from Aceh Syah Kuala to Papua (as the leaders of CEPP University Link could works as partnership with the universities)
External: Political Parties activists/officials at all level of governments; bureaucrat especially from minister for internal afairs at all level of governments; women and children empowerment ministers; Local parliaments; elections commissioners and elections workers; Women activist (NGOs; Mass Organisations such as Muhammadiyah/Aisyiyah, Wanita Islam, NU/Muslimat)
This course will appropriate for intermediate toward advanced.
Democracy, women issues, political parties and elections are the topics which need to be understood by the targeted groups in order to develop understanding how the politics works; the functions of political parties; the issue of selection (political recruitmen); elections and delivery post election (Policy formulation and policy implementation)
